Valinor / IRC Glossary / CTCP

CTCP

CTCP
(acronym) Client To Client Protocol, a way of sending commands from one IRC Client to another. Examples include CTCP PING, CTCP CLIENTINFO, CTCP ACTION, and many others. Technically, a CTCP message is a PRIVMSG that starts and ends with control-A (ASCII 001). The most common CTCP message is CTCP ACTION, which most IRC clients generate when you use the /me IRC command.
